Introduction to Final Cut Part 4: Titles and Output | |
Titles |
To create a title, click the Text Generator button at the bottom of the Viewer window and select Text/Text. Then click the Controls tab in the Viewer, and type in your text and select a font and size. Move the playhead in the Canvas to the spot where you want the title. Return to the Video tab in the Viewer. Click and drag your title from the Viewer to the Canvas, and drop it on the purple "Superimpose" box of the overlay which appears. This will place the title onto a second video track above your background video (or above an empty section of the video track for a black background.) Make sure the playhead is within the title, and in the View popup menu at the top of the Canvas choose "Image+Wireframe." You will see the title over the image, and you can drag it to the correct position.
|
Rendering |
The red bar on the Timeline (above) indicates the title must be rendered. With the title still selected on the Timeline, go to the Sequence menu and choose Render Selection/Both. A cuts-only project can be played back directly after editing. Some transitions, titles and filters must be rendered. To render multiple effects at the same time, choose Sequence/Render All/Both. |
Making Copies on DVD, iTunesU or HDV Tape |
To create a QuickTime movie to upload to a video website, see Compressing Your Movie for the Web. To create a DVD, see Burning Your Final Cut Project to DVD. The QuickTime movie file you exported from Final Cut in the Web or DVD instructions above, is a full HDV quality copy of your film, and can be saved on a memory stick.
Check your options in the Print to Video dialog box -- put at least some black on the tape before the film begins, and make sure it is set to print Entire Media. Click OK. Press both Record and Play on the VCR to begin recording on HDV tape. Click OK on the screen again and playback will begin.
