Notes:
- The differences between these frame examples will be most evident on a monitor
set to thousands or millions of colours.
- Because of the file size of the first version below (over 2 Mb), the
movie has not been included for downloading.
320x240 Cinepak movies:
15 fps, 350k per second (suitable for hard-drive
or 4x CD-ROM playback.) This is the
maximum data rate that Cinepak wanted to utilize for this frame speed and size.
1.5M 15 fps, 220k per second (suitable for 2x
CD-ROM player). The frame shows an increase in pixellization (see
the faces and T-shirt) at this lower data rate.
1.5M 15 fps, 220k per second,
moderate blur added by Movie Cleaner Lite. The blurring reduces the effect of
pixellization, and the blur is less obvious with the larger frame size than it is with
the 160x120 frame.
For an introduction to Cinepak, details of how these examples were
created, and examples at a 160x120 frame size, return to Cinepak Compression of QuickTime Movies
