CJ-3B Gets Wet Offroad in Venezuela

As I'm sure most of us have heard on the news reports, things are very difficult in Venezuela right now. The pictures on this page, from young Luis Miguel, show him enjoying his 1960 CJ-3B with his friends near Caracas last year, well before the general strike in Venezuela began. The photos are certainly a good antidote for anybody in North America who's got the winter blahs. They remind me of the good time I had visiting the country a few years ago, and make me hope that the political situation there gets settled peacefully soon. Thanks to Luis for sending the photos. -- Derek Redmond

Playa Paraiso

The photos above were taken on a trip along Playa Paraiso ("Paradise Beach") between La Guaira and Higuerote. Click on any of the photos for a larger copy (50K JPEG). See a map of the route (100K JPEG) drawn in red on an aviation map.

Luis' next trip was through a wet area in Guarico state known as "los llanos venezolanos." See also a map of this flooded zone in Aguaro Guariquito Park (160K JPEG). Click on any of the photos for a larger copy (50K JPEG).

Agauro Guariquito

See more on Luis' Jeep for the Avila Mountains, and his earlier trip from Los Teques to La Guaira.
