Isabel Bader Centre Takes Shape

Plans

Level 1
Plans continue to evolve, so many details here will change, but this 2011 drawing (click for a larger view) shows the layout of the facilities on the first floor, surrounding the central concert hall.

Level 3
This drawing of the third floor shows all the rooms of the Film and Media Department, with the exception of the studio, screening and equipment rooms on the first floor.

Tower Crane

Crane
As of July 2012, the contractor building the future Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, now scheduled to open in early 2014, has erected a tower crane on the site, meaning that work is now moving full speed ahead on the future home of the Department of Film and Media.

Trailers
A small city of construction office trailers has been installed in one corner of the site.

Watch the Action

Camera
The live video camera at the construction site is visible on the pole on the left side of the above photo.

Video
This was the view from the video camera on 9 July 2012, looking northwest over the site. The concrete footing in the foreground will support a stairway, while the wall being poured in the background will surround the large Music Rehearsal Room visible at the south end of the first floor plan.

Foundation
This closer view of the foundation for the large Music Rehearsal Room (right) also shows the area within the old stone walls in the southwest corner (left) which will be the Green Room, with a Film Classroom above.

Lake
The view from the Performing Arts Centre toward Main Campus along the lakeshore, shows the popular PUC dock swimming area, Murney Tower, and Cathcart Tower on Cedar Island.
