FILM T.A. Job Postings for 2013-14

The Department of Film and Media at Queen's University requests applications from suitably qualified candidates interested in teaching the following courses in the Fall and Winter terms of 2013-14. The fall term appointment period is September 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013, while the winter term appointment period is January 1, 2014 – April 30, 2014. Fall/Winter appointment period is September 1, 2013 – April 30, 2014.

(1.0 Full Year TA / .5 term TA /.25 half time TA)

The Department requires teaching assistants for :

  • FILM 110/ 1.0/ FW: Film Culture and Communication ( 8 positions)
  • FILM 206/.5/F: Research, Writing, and Presentation Methods
  • FILM 226/.25/F: Critical Inquiry
  • FILM 236/.25/W: Media Studies
  • FILM 250/.5/FW: Fundamentals of Production
  • FILM 300/.5/F: Hollywood: The Dream Factory
  • FILM 320/.25/W: Media and the Arts
  • FILM 340/.5/W: Advertising and Consumer Culture
  • IDIS 210/.5/W: Arts in Society (4 positions)

Positions will remain posted until they have been filled (no less than 7 calendar days). TAships will not be offered to candidates in Group B, C or D until the qualified candidates in Group A have been exhausted. In addition we will do our best to match your preference to course offerings. However, please note that the Collective Agreement does not require departments to match your preference.

First Preference ‐ Group A is for qualified graduate students registered as: (i) students in a department or program in which the TAship will be offered; or (ii) students in an interdisciplinary program with TA budget resources, and for whom the TAship has been granted as part of the funding commitment offered by Queen's University.  

Second Preference ‐ Group B is for qualified graduate students registered as: (i) students in a department or program in which the TAship will be offered; or (ii) students in an interdisciplinary program with TA budget resources, and for whom (iii) the TAship will not form part of the funding commitment offered by Queen's University; or (iv) there is currently no funding commitment provided by Queen’s University.  

Third Preference ‐ Group C is for qualified graduate students that have previously held a TAship or TFship for the Employer.  

Fourth Preference – Group D is for qualified graduate students that have not met the criteria as set out in A, B, or C.   Please forward your course preferences and other relevant material to Linda Graham at Linda.graham@queensu.ca by 19 July 2013.

Group A – please indicate course preference.
Group B – indicate course preference, submit CV and unofficial transcripts.
Group C – indicate course preference, submit CV and unofficial transcripts.
